About Lake Cumberland


Lake Cumberland is a popular recreational destination located in southern Kentucky, USA. The lake was created by the construction of the Wolf Creek Dam on the Cumberland River in the 1950s. The dam is an impressive 280 feet tall and 1,100 feet long, and it was built primarily for flood control and hydroelectric power generation. Today, Lake Cumberland is known for its clear blue waters and is a popular destination for boating, fishing, swimming, and camping. The lake has over 1,200 miles of shoreline and is surrounded by beautiful forests, rolling hills, and stunning scenery. The Lake Cumberland Dam and the lake itself are not only important for their economic and recreational value but also for their environmental significance, providing important habitats for wildlife and supporting a range of ecological functions.
