About Douglas Lake

Douglas Lake and Douglas Dam are located in Sevier County, eastern Tennessee. The lake has a surface area of over 28,000 acres and over 500 miles of shoreline, making it a popular destination for outdoor recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and camping. Douglas Dam, which was completed in 1943, is a concrete gravity dam standing at 202 feet tall and 1,705 feet long. The dam generates hydroelectric power for the surrounding area and helps regulate flooding downstream on the Tennessee River. It is also a popular spot for tourists to visit, with a visitor center and tours available for those interested in learning more about the dam's history and function.
