About Greers Ferry Lake


Greers Ferry Lake Dam is a concrete gravity dam located on the Little Red River in Arkansas, United States. The dam was constructed between 1959 and 1963 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and its primary purpose is to control flooding in the area and to generate hydroelectric power. Greers Ferry Lake, which is formed by the dam, is one of the largest lakes in Arkansas and a popular destination for outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and camping. The dam is 243 feet tall and 1,704 feet long and has a capacity to hold over 1.9 million acre-feet of water. It is an impressive engineering feat that has had a significant impact on the local community and the surrounding natural environment.
