About Lake Ouachita


Lake Ouachita Dam is a concrete gravity dam located on the Ouachita River in Montgomery County, Arkansas, United States. Completed in 1953, the dam is 231 feet high and 1,100 feet long, and it was constructed primarily to generate hydroelectric power. The dam's reservoir, Lake Ouachita, is the largest lake in Arkansas and one of the cleanest and most pristine freshwater lakes in the United States. The lake and the surrounding Ouachita National Forest are popular destinations for fishing, boating, hiking, and camping. The Lake Ouachita Dam and its reservoir play an important role in the economy and recreational activities of the surrounding area.
